Francesco Simeti lives and works in Brooklyn. He is well-known for his site-specific installations created with wallpaper, sculptures, and video. Simeti takes pictures from newspapers and magazines, digitally modifies them, and creates patterns associating a strong visual appeal with a more critical aspect, thus raising questions on the real nature and role of this kind of imagery in contemporary society. He has realized site-specific installations, reinterpreting public spaces, such as the 18th Ave Bensonhurst Brooklyn subway station, or a school hallway in New York. His works are part of the collections belonging to several institutions, like the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and the Palazzo Riso in Palermo.
