ChART Contemporary and Open House Living collaborate to produce ChART HOME at Dashilar from September 24 – October 3, 2011. ChART HOME is an extension of ChART’s Open House curatorial series and one of the selected pop-up shops participating in Beijing Design Week. Open House Living is a Hong Kong based home furnishings brand bringing together art & design. Located in the heart of Dashilar, our Duplex (No. 98) is a conceptual installation that considers the function and significance of HOME. Join us on September 24th from 6-9 pm for the opening of Beijing Design Week and kick-off the Home is Where the Heart is postcard project. Participating artists include: Chen Ke, Huang Xiaoliang and Zhang Xiangxi.
ChART HOME will be open to the public from September 25 – October 3 from 2 – 8 pm.
Special Thanks to Unity Art Design and Open House Living for supporting this project.
Home is Where the Heart is
On March 28, 2010, Chen Ke transformed a 10 sqm underground “residence” into A Room of One’s Own. The installation of hand embroidered objects and home furnishings created for ChART Contemporary’s Open House curatorial series turned the dark and tiny room into a comfortable home where people felt content and hopeful. Inspired by this project, ChART Contemporary invited Chen Ke to expand on the concept of home; leading to the Home is Where the Heart is postcard project. Thanks to the convenience of modern day technology, writing a letter or a postcard is a dying tradition. While we are living in the Internet era, home remains where the heart is. There is something special about receiving a hand written note with a human touch from a friend or loved one. During the opening of Design Week on September 24th (6 – 9 p.m.) and on October 1 (National Day, 4 – 6 p.m.) we invite you into ChART Home to interact with Chen Ke’s installation and send a postcard home. During the exhibition, postcards will be on display and at the closing on October 3, we will mail the postcards off to your loved ones.
